Location

Heilala Holiday Lodge is located in the village of Kanokupolu on the main island of Tongatapu in the Kingdom of Tonga (see map below)! Nearby are several famous landmarks, such as the first Christian landing site (0.9km), the Abel Tasman landing site (1.2km) and the main Flying Foxes sanctuary at Kolovai (1.7km).

 

Getting around:

There are several option available, but the most popular is the "very cost effective" village bus service which also provides a great experience into the traditional way of live on the island. Buses operate Monday to Saturday (7am to 5pm), they stop 350 meters from the Lodge and there is a bus about every half hour! The bus fare (to or from Nukuʻalofa) is T$ 2.50 per person/per way. Taxis are also available on call (24 hrs) and are most cost effective when used as a shared transport option, a small bus taxi can fit up to 7 adults and costs T$30 to T$40 to or from Nuku'alofa. Shuttle transfers can be arranged for almost any group size and the cost per person depends on the total number of passengers (please ask). Rental cars, scooters and complementary bicycles can also be arranged and daily rates are available from (T$50 for a car or a scooter). Please note: A Tongan drivers license is needed to hire cars and scooters.

 

Airport shuttle service:

Heilala Holiday Lodge offers airport transfers to and from the international and domestic terminals.

International arrivals: If you have booked with us directly (not through an agent) for a stay of at least 3 consecutive nights and arrive on an International inbound flight, we will pick you up from the International terminal "Free of charge" (please request at time of booking)! Please note that this special does not apply and can not be exchanged for international drop off's or domestic transfers!
